Manage a Custom list (unwanted or whitelist persons)

It is also possible to configure a custom list via the Manage custom list in your Govlink account.

Common use cases for whitelisting a person include:

  • False positives : When a traveller shares a common name with someone on a sanction list but has been verified as a different person.
  • Internal executives or frequent travellers : Who may trigger repeated matches due to name similarity.
  • Clients with special approval : Cases where operations have confirmed the individual is permitted to travel, despite appearing on a third-party list.
  • Temporary overrides : When additional context or documentation confirms that a sanctioned identity does not refer to the passenger

To add a Custom list. In your Govlink account, go to Sanction List menu. select the Upload button to upload a CSV file filled with a list of names:

CSV expected fields

  • ref_id*
  • last_name*
  • first_name*
  • middle_name
  • gender
  • dob
  • pob
  • nationality
  • passport_number
  • group_type*
  • program
  • date_of_listing

Fields marked with * are mandatory fields.

The “ref_id” field is useful to identify a match (it is returned by Govlink in case of match). The “group_type” field’s possible values are: “Individual“ or “Group”.

Errors

If an error is raised from the CSV file, a popup is displayed to list errors from the file and inform that these lines are not integrated. These errors should be fixed before uploading  the corrected file again. Note that the whole file has to be re-uploaded.

Whitelist

A whitelist is a list of individuals who should be excluded from sanction list matches during screening. This is typically used when a person appears on an official sanction list but has been verified by your organisation as not relevant or not a risk for your operations. Adding them to the whitelist ensures they are not repeatedly flagged.

Setting the value of the “PROGRAM” field to “WHITE-LIST” will add the entry to the  whitelist. When performing a sanction list check, if a passenger or crew member matches with an entry on a sanction list (EU, UN, UK, US, etc.) and matches with an entry  on the whitelist, the result of the check will be “no match”.
