TermDefinition
ACKA general term used to indicate that a message is acknowledged. Whether the message has been successfully processed depends on the application.
Adult / ADTA person who has reached their 12th birthday as of the date of commencement of travel.
Airline Designators (ICAO / IATA)Codes assigned to aircraft operators by:
• The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO codes)
• The International Air Transport Association (IATA codes).
Each airline has a unique ICAO and/or IATA code.
Allowance, Free BaggageThe baggage which may be carried without payment of a charge in addition to the fare.
API (Advance Passenger Information)Passenger identification data sent to authorities in advance of arrival. It includes passport or travel document details and basic flight information, allowing authorities to pre-screen passengers for faster clearance and improved security.
ATD (Actual Time of Departure)Defined by carrier procedures as wheels up, chocks off, or brakes off. Governments specify which definition applies for data transmission purposes.
BookingSee Passenger Name Record (PNR).
CarrierAny air carrier that transports passengers and/or baggage or performs related services associated with air carriage.
Child / CHDA person who has reached their second birthday but not their 12th birthday as of the date of commencement of travel.
Domestic FlightA flight departing from and arriving in the same country.
EDIFACTInternational UN standard for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Defines syntax rules for structuring and exchanging business documents and files securely between organizations.
ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival)The forecast arrival time of a flight.
Flight NumberThe numerical identification of a flight, consisting of one to four digits and an optional alphabetic suffix.
Infant / INFA person who has not reached their second birthday as of the date of commencement of travel.
ISOThe International Organization for Standardization, which maintains global standards such as country codes.
Passenger / PAXAny person, other than crew, carried or to be carried in an aircraft with the consent of the carrier.
